Compression Stockings and Travel: Vascular Tips

Practical travel tips for patients with varicose veins, leg swelling, or clot risk.

Why travel increases symptoms

Long sitting reduces calf-muscle pumping and can worsen swelling or heaviness. Some patients also have higher clot risk.

Practical risk reduction

Move regularly and avoid prolonged immobility. Drink according to your usual health needs and medical plan; hydration alone is not proven to prevent DVT. Use properly fitted compression stockings only when advised for your individual risk.

Important Signs to Mention

Walk during long trips
Flex ankles often
Use correct stocking size
Ask about risk if you had clots
