Carotid duplex assesses the carotid arteries in the neck for plaque, narrowing, flow velocities, and follow-up findings requested by the treating doctor. It is a diagnostic test and does not treat plaque by itself.
When emergency care is needed
Sudden weakness, facial droop, speech difficulty, vision loss, severe dizziness, or stroke-like symptoms should be treated as emergency symptoms. Carotid ultrasound booking should not delay urgent care.
