When renal artery Doppler is considered
Renal artery Doppler may be requested when a treating doctor suspects renal artery stenosis, resistant hypertension, asymmetric kidney size, unexplained kidney function changes, or vascular causes of blood-pressure difficulty.
What the scan can and cannot answer
The scan assesses blood-flow velocity and waveform patterns in the renal arteries. It supports clinical decision-making but must be interpreted alongside blood pressure, kidney function, medicines, and the treating doctor’s assessment.
