Before booking an access examination
If the usual access thrill is absent, the access stops working during dialysis, or sudden swelling or pain develops, contact the dialysis unit or vascular-access team the same day using their instructed clinical channel; do not use general WhatsApp. For heavy bleeding that will not stop, fainting, breathing difficulty, or a suddenly cold, pale, or severely painful hand, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
