Common vein terms
DVT means deep vein thrombosis. Reflux means backward flow through leaking valves. Compressible veins usually suggest no clot in the tested segment. Chronic post-thrombotic change means old clot-related scarring may be present.
Common artery terms
Plaque means buildup in the artery wall. Stenosis means narrowing. Velocity and waveform describe how blood moves through the artery. ABI compares ankle and arm pressures to screen for leg artery disease.
Why context matters
A report should be interpreted with symptoms, exam findings, medical history, and the reason the test was requested. Bring previous reports when available.
