What sclerotherapy does
A small amount of sclerosant is injected into selected superficial veins so they close gradually and fade. It is commonly used for spider veins and selected small varicose veins.

If there is heaviness, swelling, large bulging veins, skin discoloration, or previous clots, duplex mapping helps decide whether deeper reflux should be treated before cosmetic veins.
